The Sixth International Workshop on
DIRECT REACTIONS WITH EXOTIC BEAMS
(DREB2009)
December 16 - 19, 2009.

September 2008

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure to announce that the next International Workshop (DREB2009) on "Direct Reactions with Exotic Beams" will be held on the Florida State University campus which is located in Florida's capital city, Tallahassee, on December 16 - 19, 2009.

DREB2009 is the sixth International Workshop in a series of workshops initiated by researchers from MSU, FSU and Orsay. The earlier meetings were held in 1999 at Michigan State University (USA), in 2001 at IPN Orsay (France), in 2003 at the University of Surrey (England), in 2005 at Michigan State University (USA) and in 2007 at RIKEN (Japan). DREB2009 intends to present the latest topics in the field and stimulate fruitful discussions.

DREB2009 is hosted by the Department of Physics at Florida State University.

We are looking forward to seeing you at Florida State University.

Sincerely yours,
The organizers.

Scientific Program

The scientific content will address the extraction of nuclear structure and astrophysical information from direct reactions with exotic beams as well as the understanding of reaction mechanisms. It will include the latest theoretical and experimental topics on varieties of reaction studies.

Workshop Topics

  1. Inelastic scattering and varieties of nuclear responses.
  2. Breakup reactions and exotic correlation.
  3. Elastic scattering / reaction cross section and proton / neutron distribution in nuclei.
  4. Nucleon knockout / transfer reactions and single particle structure in asymmetric fields.
  5. Recent reaction theories and effective interaction at the extremes of nuclear stability.
  6. Interplay between reaction and structure theories.
  7. Resonance scattering in inverse kinematics.
  8. Sub- and near-barrier fusion with exotic nuclei.
  9. Nuclear astrophysics studied by reactions with exotic nuclei.
  10. Recent and future developments in experimental and computational methods.
