DREB2009

The VI International Workshop on Direct
Reactions with Exotic Beams
December 16 - 19, 2009.

Second Announcement

The sixth edition of the International Workshop on Direct Reactions with Exotic Beams - DREB2009 will be held in Tallahassee, Florida, USA on December 16 - December 19, 2009. The conference website is http://dreb2009.physics.fsu.edu.

General Information

DREB2009 will take place at the Florida State University main campus, located in the downtown of Tallahassee, Florida's capital city. DREB2009 is the sixth International Workshop in a series of workshops initialized by researchers from MSU, FSU, and Orsay. The earlier meetings were held in 1999 at Michigan State University (USA), in 2001 at IPN Orsay (France), in 2003 at the University of Surrey (England) in 2005 at Michigan State University (USA) and in 2007 at RIKEN (Japan). DREB2009 intends to present the latest topics in the field and stimulate fruitful discussions. DREB2009 is hosted by faculty of Florida State University.

Scientific Program and Format

The workshop will focus on nuclear structure and astrophysical information extracted from direct reactions with exotic beams as well as the understanding of reaction mechanisms. It will include the latest theoretical and experimental topics on varieties of reaction studies. The workshop consists of oral and poster presentations. Talks will be selected from the submitted abstracts. Deadline for abstract submission is September 13th, 2009. Abstracts should be submitted online (http://dreb2009.physics.fsu.edu). We will inform abstract contributors on the results of the selection as soon as possible but no later than by October 12th, 2009.

Workshop Topics

  • Nucleon knockout and transfer reactions.
  • Elastic and inelastic scattering.
  • Resonance scattering in inverse kinematics.
  • Sub- and near-barrier fusion.
  • Breakup reactions.
  • Proton/neutron distributions and clustering phenomena.
  • Nuclear astrophysics.
  • Reaction and structure theories and interplay between them.
  • Experimental, theoretical and computational methods.

Registration and Accommodation

Registration for the workshop is to be done online at http://dreb2009.physics.fsu.edu. Workshop registration fee is $100. This fee includes coffee breaks, social dinner and excursion. Early registration deadline is November 1st, 2009. Registration fee will be increased to $150 if registered after early registration deadline. Registration fee can be paid online using major credit card (http://dreb2009.physics.fsu.edu) or in cash at the registration desk by arrival.
